Developed from the Ready, Eddie, Go! animated TV show, each book in this series highlights an area that autistic children find challenging and provides gentle and supportive strategies to help children find ways of coping, which all children can benefit from. The books use clear structure as well as visuals to help readers understand the story and identify strategies that may help when they face similar experiences.

In this book, Eddie has a go at painting – and finds out that its ok to get messy and to make mistakes. Art is all about enjoying yourself and having fun!

Beautifully illustrated, and presented in Eddie’s trademark friendly voice, the Ready, Eddie, Go! series is designed to speak directly to young autistic children and to provide them with the reassurance and advice they need to be happy day-to-day.

Reviews

Ready Eddie GO! Painting introduces children to messy play activities, whilst providing them with ways to manage tricky moments, such as messy hands, itchy labels, and making mistakes as they create. It introduces children to helpful strategies such as, making lists to help with planning and organisation, and wearing an apron inside out to stop the label itching. The book normalises mistakes and celebrates creative differences, allowing the child to feel increasingly confident in their efforts.

This book is a gorgeous way to introduce art and painting to all children, but especially to neurodivergent ones. It not only gives tips for making painting more sensory friendly (e.g by wearing the apron inside out) but it also encourages kids to enjoy painting for the fun and creativity, rather than for perfection. It even teaches kids to celebrate mistakes by looking for the potential in them. Another gem in this neuro-affirming and beautifully presented book series "Ready Eddie Go!"
